Mission Helper Development

2026 CURRENT STATUS

On December 30, 2025, the Sisters of the Mission Helpers sold their 4.17 acre lot to a Delaware LLC (“1001 West Joppa Road LLC”). The new Owner has yet to identify itself, despite repeated attempts at outreach.

We have learned the following:

  • The new Owner intends to lease the site to the Owings Mills Synagogue (OMS).

  • OMS currently operates a large wedding and events center at its Owings Mills site, offering five-hour catered events for 315+ people.

  • Rabbi Mayer Kleiner of OMS said that he “absolutely” plans on doing the same thing at the Mission Helpers site.

  • There are only 49 parking spaces at Mission Helpers, and a single ingress/egress onto Chestnut Avenue. There are no sidewalks on Joppa or Chestnut.

  • In their 3/5/26 email, the new Owner refused to answer questions about how it would address our parking, traffic, and safety concerns.

This site is intended to share information about events on the Mission Helper site. Copies of all relevant correspondence and maps etc. will be available as they happen.

The documents below relate to the 2022 plan for Blakehurst to expand into the Mission Helpers site. That deal never closed and the Sisters sold to the Delaware LLC.

Click on each heading below for more information.

1. The Restrictive Covenant and Addenda

These are the agreements that “run with the land” and govern how the Blakehurst and Mission Helper parcels can be used.

2. Drawings and Blakehurst Plat

The project drawings are from the two Zoom meetings held so far. The Blakehurst Plat is from Baltimore County land records. The RRLRAIA Boundary map is from the Association.

3. Correspondence

This is where I will post letters and emails with the developer and others about this project.
